Maya Angulo '17Ah, where to begin... I'm your average nerd (complete with the glasses) who spends way too much time on Netflix and Tumblr. Still, I somehow manage to get everything done? If you know me, then you know I can be found in the library during breaks hiding behind the daily copy of the LA Times or jetting off to band practice after school. Eitherway, I manage to find time to write. As one of my main forms of emotional, creative, and expressive outlet, writing for me has been something necessary to who I am as a person.

Amanda Collins '17Hello, Chaminade. For those of you who don't know me, I love DIY Crafts, punk rock, and of course writing. My works mainly focus on self-discovery and personal value. Thank you to my lovely co-editor Maya and our awesome Writer's Bloc Staff. You never fail to put smiles on my face. I'll be sure to mention y'all when I make the dedication page for my first novel. :)
Leah Gadi '20I hope I'm doing this "Meet the Staff" thing right. And this whole Writer's Bloc business for that matter.
Anyways, what's up? As you can probably tell by the '20 above, I'm a newbie to the Literary Magazine staff. Many of us here are aspiring writers, myself included. Writing is a passion of mine, alongside creating digital and traditional art. In terms of literary genres, I tend to gravitate toward sci-fi, mystery, and fantasy. Short-stories and poetry are what I'm most interested in writing. Whenever I attempt to write a longer piece of fiction, however, I almost never finish it. (I'll work on that.) My works are centred on the vices and virtues of characters and how the consequences of their actions can help them develop as a better (or worse) person. I'm a bit of a nutcracker, and sometimes I'll wander around the school, thinking of various different plot ideas, and then hole myself up in the back of the library - away from crowds, of course. Even then, I'll always enjoy the snarky company of my fellow nerds. Thank you to the veterans of Writer's Bloc for being so welcoming to an awkward, overexcited freshman like me! Hope I don't disappoint! Brittany Pakfar '18 |
